Fairfield Police Department Launches GoFundMe For K9 Unit

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Police Department is seeking funding for its K9 unit via GoFundMe.

The K9 Unit is funded entirely through private and corporate donations. 

K9s assist in fighting and deterring crime, and their presence alone often allows for a peaceful arrest and helps keep police out of harm's way. 

Police canines also assist in crowd control and tracking suspects and evidence, as well as lost individuals.
